About Us

"There's a 'little Quizzer' in all of us"

little Quizzer is a simple, entertaining, multiple choice quiz that intends to test your knowledge of what happened in Nashville, Tennessee in the recent past. We curate news stories of interest from various sources with the intention of covering  a wide range of topics, interests, and areas that will appeal to a diverse group. After all, our communities comprise people of all kinds of backgrounds and experiences.

Despite what feels like never-ending bad news, we don't intend to be a source of sadness. On the contrary, we want to achieve a few things:

  • Curate credible stories from reliable sources to present questions (and, hopefully, correct answers) based on facts

  • Challenge our little Quizzer community to keep up with what's going on around them by actively consuming news from reliable, credible sources

  • Cultivate a little enjoyment around news stories of interest by offering a quick, easy-to-take multiple choice quiz to help the little Quizzer community gauge how much they learned from the news

Remember that last one- "enjoyment." We hope you will enjoy taking the quiz each time. News can certainly set people off and cause outrage and if you keep finding yourself feeling that way each time, maybe little Quizzer isn't for you.

Also, we may get something wrong, either because of a technical error, we didn't understand the story, or we simply selected a story with incorrect information. When we do that and someone points it out, we will apologize and try to fix it or simply remove the question. We want to grow and learn as much as we want to encourage others to grow and learn from this effort and we certainly don't claim to be 100% accurate all of the time.

While we are not journalists, we intend to use our best judgment to curate stories from credible sources that adhere to a code of ethics and a commitment to getting accurate information to those consuming it. To that end, and while this may not be an exhaustive effort, we do want to publicly acknowledge that we do try to support at least some of the news sources on which we rely to craft our quizzes. This support includes:

A paid subscription to
https://www.tennessean.com by one of our staffers
A paid subscription to
https://www.nashvillepost.com
A paid subscription to
https://www.bizjournals.com/nashville/

A monthly sustaining donation to https://wpln.org by one of our staffers

This does not mean that little Quizzer will rely on only these news sources. We will look at all kinds of sources and choose whichever ones we want. We intend to include a source for every question. Some of the source stories that we reference may be behind a "paywall" or require a subscription. If you don't have a subscription to that particular website, you may not be able to read the story. We encourage you to consider a paid subscription as we will not apologize for referencing "subscriber only" content. Part of what makes good, credible journalism possible is the fact that news organizations have to earn money to pay professionals to do their job and do it well.

Also, we pay for a monthly News Nerd Membership with https://adfontesmedia.com/, producers of the The Media Bias Chart. We do that in order to commit to a better understanding ourselves about sources of journalism and how they can be assessed. We believe that journalism is a profession with good and bad actors (or maybe better and worse actors) but we want to use tools that enable us, as best as possible, to find truth and reliability in our pursuit. Even if bias exists, we want to acknowledge that we can still learn facts and discover fact-based reporting.

Obviously, we will be conjuring up "wrong answers" for the quizzes and those types of answers may contain an element of truth or they may be completely false. This is our creative side just taking over but we do this to add some fun and entertainment to the experience. It is also true that we might poke a little fun at a person or a situation but we don't intend any malice. If you happen to be one of those people or you are connected to something in one of our quizzes, we hope that you will be honored for the mention and will share it with others. Otherwise, send us an email at littlequizzer@gmail.com and share any concerns that you might have. Removal or modification of any content will be solely at our discretion but we will honestly and sincerely read your email.

If you like what we're doing, great! Share littlequizzer.com with your friends. We don't know where this will eventually go but we want you to join us for the ride.

One final thing-  little Quizzer was inspired by the New York Times Quiz, which they publish every Friday. For those of us who look forward to the thrill of testing our knowledge of current events each week, we proudly offer a local  quiz that attempts to capture that same thrill from our own communities.

Thanks for reading and keep on quizzing...

Sincerely,

little Quizzer et al
